Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to investigate solute and water transport into an emulsion liquid membrane. The permeation of interest was the removal of copper from a feed stream of low ionic strength. Acorga PT 5050 was used as the active carrier in the membrane. The effect of hydrodynamic parameters such as emulsion residence time, hold-up and phase ratios are shown. The conditions for optimum mass transfer are discussed.
