Abstract

Abstract A continuous membrane column was employed to separate methane from gas mixtures of CO 2CH 4, CH 4N 2 and CO 2CH 4 N 2 at room temperature. Shell-side composition profiles along the column were taken experimentally and compared with the calculated results. The agreements were excellent, indicating that the model calculation is adequate for a ternary system. Combination of two columns was developed to separate the ternary mixture.
