Abstract

Abstract We show that the threshold field for the occurrence of non-linear conductivity in NbSe 3 is influenced by high magnetic fields only below a given temperature. This temperature is 19 K for H = 20 T. This threshold is interpreted as the depinning of a domain structure or a soliton lattice. We show that this threshold is magnetic field dependent and angular dependent with a minimum value when H is β to the plane (b,c) and a maximum value when H is ⌈ to (b,c). However the threshold field for depining the charge density wave as a whole which is much higher is magnetic field independent.
