Abstract

Abstract The sorption of some metal ions was studied on the H + form of chromium ferrocyanide gel as the function of initial solution concentration at pH 2. The sorption of Rb + and Ag + was found to be exceptionally high and explained in terms of molecular adsorption and chemical exchange, respectively. The amounts of maximum uptake were determined and found to be linearly related to the ionic potentials, i.e., charge-to-radius ratios of the ingoing cations.
