Six species of the genus Limnodrilus Claparede (Oligochaeta, Tubificidae) occurring inJapan are described and figured. Among them, four species are cosmopolitan (L. hoffmeisteri,L. udekemianus, L. claparedianus and L. pro/undicola (new to Japan) ), and one iseastern Asiatic (L. grandisetosus). Another species, Limnodrilus sp. occurred in LakeShikotsu, Hokkaido is characterized by having numerous chaetae (up to 16 per bundle) andshort cylindrical penis sheaths without hood. Distribution and some eoc1ogical informationof each species are briefly noted.
