Abstract

Abstract Analysis of absorption spectra of OH in detonations of C 2 H 2 + H 2 + 2 O 2 at initial pressures of 120 mm and 180 mm of mercury has given both the rotational temperature and the absolute concentration of OH. The experimental rotational temperatures calculated by taking into account the rotation-vibration interaction in electronic transitions have agreed with the values calculated from detonation theory. Also, the experimental OH concentrations calculated by using Dyne's value of F and a=1·0 for 120 mm of mercury or a=1·5 for 180 mm of mercury have agreed with the values calculated from detonation theory.
