Abstract

Abstract A self-administered Urology Questionnaire designed to record urologic symptoms, provide an agenda for the physician-patient interview, and teach nonurologists the significance of specific symptoms was developed and administered to 27 male patients. Information from the questionnaire was compared to standard urologic histories recorded by house-officers and medical students. The questionnaire was superior to the standard histories in detecting and recording major urologic symptoms, especially those dealing with sexual function. The symptoms were legibly recorded by the questionnaire, and generally the patient's attitude was one of acceptance.
