Abstract

Abstract A simple and relatively accurate pressure drop correlation equation is presented for low-finned tube crossflow heat exchangers with staggered tube arrangements. Eighty nine previously published data points were used in the determination of the equation and these cover a Reynolds number range of 885 to 713,000. The range of the error between the predicted values of the friction factor using the proposed equation and the measured values is from −16.7% to 19.9% with a mean absolute error of 5.98%.
