Abstract

Summary The subject of subluxation of the head of the radius has been presentedagain to stress the frequency with which it occurs and to bring out the fact that, because of its limitation to small children, it is a pediatric problem and should be treated by the pediatrician. The diagnosis is made on (1) the suggestion of the history, (2) the lack of deformity at the site of injury, (3) point tenderness over the head of the radius, and (4) the loss of function and the typical position of the extremity. Treatment consists of moderate pressure over the head of the radius with forceful supination of the hand. Successful treatment is accompanied by the characteristic click.
