Abstract

Abstract Amplitude of photoacoustic signal from silver electrode is measured as a function of electrode potential for electrochemical SERS system. We show that the amplitude change of photoacoustic signal arises from the change of adatomic concentration on surface of electrode. It is found that the SERS intensity profile versus electrode potential predicted by the charge-transfer theory fits with the experimental curve very well in the non-Faradaic region where the amplitude of photoacoustic signal remains unchanged.
