Abstract

Abstract A device is described which provides continuous sample introduction into a low pressure glow discharge. A chain conveyor is used for sample transport. Results are reported for aqueous Pb sample solutions. The device is shown to give a linear response for Pb over approximately 2 orders of magnitude in concentration. A limit of detection of 0.9 μgml is reported. The device is shown to possess many useful features. Its potential utility as an element selective detector for liquid chromatography is suggested.
