Abstract

Abstract Resonance Raman spectra of proflavin and its complexes with nucleic acids and DNA were obtained in the region 300–1700cm −1. Normal mode calculations were undertaken to assist assigning Raman bands. The depolarization ratios of some observed Raman bands were measured and these depolarization ratio changes with medium changes are used for analysis of structural information on the DNA-proflavin binding system.
