Abstract

Abstract This paper uses an econometric model to assess some of the effects of macro monetary factors on U.S. agricultural markets. Attention is focused on impacts of decreasing (increasing) the level of domestic credit on agricultural trade, prices, inventory accumulation, and domestic disappearance. Results show that tight monetary policy lowers prices and increase demand for domestic agriculture; however, the upward pressure on the exchange rate seriously deteriorates the position of U.S. exports in international markets.
