Abstract

Abstract A procedure is described which permits the preferential methanolysis of esterified fatty acids in the presence of free fatty acids and the subsequent esterification of the free fatty acids. Analysis, by gas chromatography, of the mixture before and after esterification of the free fatty acids allows an accurate determination of the esterified and free fatty acids in the presence of each other.
