Abstract

Summary Lysine decarboxylase activity and cadaverine were found in roots, stems, and leaves of Nicotiana glauca plants. In particular LDC, in contrast to cadaverine level, was higher in roots than in leaves and stems. Labelled cadaverine moves quickly from the roots, where it is mainly synthesized, to leaves and not vice versa. Also ornithine and arginine decarboxylase activities and putrescine, spermidine, and spermine were detected in Nicotiana glauca plants.
