Abstract

Abstract The enthalpies of solution of β-Ba(OH) 2(s) and Sr(OH) 2(s) in 1.0109 mol·dm −3 HCl(aq) have been measured. From the results the standard molar enthalpies of formation have been calculated: Δ f H m o{β-Ba(OH) 2, s, 298.15 K} = −(940.19 ± 1.77) kJ·mol −1 and Δ f H m o{Sr(OH) 2, s, 298.15 K} = −(963.88 ± 0.99) kJ·mol −1.
