Abstract

Abstract Most existing structural seismic design methods are based on the limit design concepts to reflect maximum deformation attained, through the use of a ductility factor. But, according to the real structural seismic damage, the ductility factor is just one indicator of complex structure nonlinear behavior, so it is limited in the information that it provides to designers. In this paper, one cumulative damage model of reinforced concrete under a reversal cycle load is described, based on two damage factors. This technique permits one to evaluate not only the damage based on ductility, but also the cumulative damage based on the repetitive nature of the response.
