Abstract

Abstract This article reports a study being part of a cross-cultural investigation of children's economic socialization. Three groups of children, aged 8, 11 and 14, were interviewed, following a questionnaire covering economic understanding, reasoning and attitudes. The developmental character of children's economic knowledge was confirmed, but the impact of external economic conditions, in which children were growing up, seems to be of importance. The youngest group (8-year-olds), born and living under conditions of an economic crisis in Poland, has in some aspects better economic knowledge than the other groups.
