Abstract

Abstract The present communication deals with the effect of Van der Waals forces on the structural stability of the three heavy alkali metals K, Rb and Cs. An inclusion of this interaction in the energy-independent model pseudopotential formalism gives the bcc structure of lowest energy for these metals.
