Abstract

Abstract Steady-state anodic voltammograms were measured at a silver rotating disc electrode in a basic sulfide solution. Analysis of the voltammograms indicates that the rate-determining steps in the dissolution of silver are due to a combination of surface chemical reaction, forming silver sulfide, and the charge-transfer reaction between silver and silver ion. Kinetic parameters of each step are evaluated and an I-E curve is reproduced from these parameters. The wave form is in good agreement with the voltammogram obtained experimentally.
