Abstract

Abstract The dispersion curves of [001] L-mode phonons of C 24Rb were measured in detail by neutron scattering. A small discontinuity was discovered on the acoustic branch and is explained by a linear chain model with transverse Einstein oscillations of rubidium predicted by specific heat measurements. The second nearest neighbor carbon-carbon force across the rubidium layer is about 12% of the first nearest neighbor one.
