Abstract

Abstract Using the Lotka-Volterra diffusion model, the authors investigated a population explosion of the German carp in the Lower Danube. Based on an examination of the existence and stability of a spatially constant equilibrium, which can depend on the growth rate of forage species of fish, it was predicted that depending on the value of the latter, the population density of German carp and/or forage species converges to zero, i.e. they go to extinction.
