Abstract

Wyborski Roman, "Assertive silence in civil society". How should the notion of public opinion be used ? Some recent political texts due to the media or to officials in Poland reflect the consent of a community which has not been consulted. Symmetrically this very same community expresses itself through its refuse to participate in "speeches" (electoral consultations) in which silence (abstention) corresponds to strong and essential statements. This study is an analysis of the pragmatic dimension of imposed silence, or silence actively observed as the expression of the ever-present confrontation occurs when direct speech is not favored, as well as the conditions under which this silence can be broken.
