Abstract

The pedagogy of transition classes - For children who are under-instructed or of a mediocre level, a special pedagogy must be found which can awaken intellectual curiosity and the desire to know. Its resources will include, for example, classes not overloaded with work, a better organization of the school day, the combining of self-teaching and group work, surveys of the environment, and synthesis studies of the various disciplines. Thanks to special training, teachers of transition classes will be able to apply a pedagogy which will be innovating, pluralistic, concrete, « instrumentalist », based on co-operation and personalized, and which encourage the adhesion of the pupils.
