Effect of hydrogen on superconductivity in YNi2B2C

Abstract

Abstract We report here preliminary investigation of the effect of hydrogen absorption on superconductivity in the borocarbide superconductors YNi 2B 2C. Our experiments show that hydrogen is absorbed to a low molar concentration of ∼ 0.2 and that hydrogen has no significant effect on the lattice parameter and superconducting transition temperature. These results are the first report on effect of hydrogen in quaternary borocarbides.
