Abstract

Abstract Ca 1− x Sr x VO 3 is an ideal system for studying bandwidth effects. The substitution of a Ca 2+ ion for a Sr 2+ ion reduces the bandwidth due to bucklings of V–O–V bond angles. The Wilson ratio R W≃2 substantiates strong electron correlations in this system, while the effective mass shows moderate values against the critical enhancement of the Brinkmann–Rice picture.
