On band tail structure and peculiarities of temperature dependence for concentration of localized single-particle carriers in glassy semiconductors

Abstract

Abstract A specific temperature dependence is found for thermal equilibrium concentration of single-particle, ESR centres in mobility gap of glassy semiconductors and related systems. The temperature dependence occurs when the band tails in the gap steeply decrease. Comparison with appropriate experimental data allows to determine basic parameters of the tail energy distributions. It appears that in the systems under consideration the band tails are similar to Gaussian ones. Some related effects are briefly discussed.
