Abstract

Abstract Considerable collagenase activity was demonstrated in the excreta of aseptically grown blowfly larvae using a substrate (kangaroo-tail tendon) rich in undenatured, mature collagen. However, no evidence of such activity was observed in protease preparation's from aseptically grown housefly larvae, from normally grown larvae of the webbing clothes moth and the silkworm, or from the American cockroach and the migratory locust.
