Abstract

Abstract Exposure of dark grown resting Euglena to light or ethanol did not alter the specific activity of serine hydroxymethyltransferase or hydropyruvate reductase, two enzymes of the reversible portion of the glycolate pathway. Studies of the subcellular distribution of serine hydroxymethyltransferase indicated that this enzyme is found in both the mitochondria and cytoplasm of Euglena.
