Abstract

A basidiomycetous root-rot fungus, naturally affecting maize and sugar-cane, and infecting many other hosts by artificial inoculation, has been induced to produce sporophores in pure culture. The macro- and microscopic characters of the fungus are given. It is identified as Marasmiellus inoderma (Berk.) Sing., which has not been previously reported from the U.A.R.
