Abstract

Abstract Studies have been made on the kinetics of zinc stripping for the Zn/H 2SO 4/D2EHPA/ n-heptane system which is being considered as a Recommended System by the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE) Working Party on Distillation, Absorption and Extraction. A constant interface cell designed by Hancil has been used to determine chemical rate-controlling parameters and a five-compartment rotating disc contactor (RDC) of 0.152 m diameter has been used with single drops to determine appropriate diffusional mass transfer coefficients.
