Abstract

Abstract The adsorption of pyrrole on a roughened polycrystalline silver electrode has been studied using the SERS and impedance methods. The frequency changes of the three ring vibrations with the electrode potential suggest a parallel surface orientation of the pyrrole molecules. The spectroscopic results are in reasonable accordance with the electrochemical data. They are discussed in terms of a mixed structure of polycrystalline silver described as a composite of individual crystal faces.
