This paper mainly deals with sentences including the adverb huxiang . It is claimed that the interpretation of such sentences , i.e. identification of the kind of relationship at stake, is a question not so much of syntactic form as of the semantic value of lexical items. Without explicit context, that identification may be quite impossible and the type of reciprocity remains undetermined. M. H. examines : - what king of reciprocity one may observe in sentences including huxiang ; - which are the intrinsically reciprocal verbs and, among them, which features can operate sub-groupings ; - which are, in the different cases, the respective positions of huxiang, negation, adverbs ; - how multi-reciprocity operates.
