Abstract

The construction of classical point estimators using method of moments, maximum likelihood, and bayesian methods is described, along with methods for their evaluation. These evaluation methods are based on the use of loss functions, with the most common evaluation being one based on mean squared error. In addition to point estimation, interval estimation, and methods for constructing and evaluting interval estimators, including test inversion, pivoting and Bayes, are also described.
