Abstract

Abstract The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) agreed to the conduct of an Assessment Study of the effect of the ready availability of radiology results on senior clinicians, clinical decision making, and the time taken to treat patients. A series of structured interviews with senior clinicians at PAH is being undertaken over 18 months from July 2002. Qualitative approaches to assessment include Sampling, Ethnography, Surveys and Interviews. The information gained from interviews with senior clinicians is being supported by the collection and analysis of administrative data from the PAH computer system. The introduction of RIS/PACS at PAH has been well received by senior Clinicians and is considered to have been of assistance in clinical decision making and patient management.
