Abstract

Abstract HeLa cells synchronized by selective detachment of mitotic cells from a monolayer can be arrested in mitosis for 6 h by cooling to 0 °C. Mitotic cells stored at 0 °C for 2 to 3 h progress through the cell cycle when returned to 37 °C without any detrimental effect on their metabolism or synchrony.
