The Dressels came to Metaline Falls in 1910 shortly after their marriage at Sprague where Edwin and his brother, Art, were in business. He took employment in E. R. Kirkland's store, which he later purchased and operated until retirement in 1943. Mr. Dressel became the town's first postmaster in January, 1911, operating from his store. Prior to that the mail was brought by boat to Metaline and ferried across the river to Metaline Falls by John Lewis, Captain Stevens and others.
