Abstract

Abstract We have made a detailed study of the negative Hall plateaus associated with the magnetic field induced spin density waves (FISDW) in (TMTSF) 2PF 6. A series of negative dips in Hall effect, dispersed among the cascade of FISDW states, generate an intriguing sequence of FISDW transitions. Comparison of positive and negative Hall plateaus shows much similarity between the two class of FISDW states. The observed sequence of transitions is discussed in light of the recently proposed explanations for the negative Hall plateaus.
