Abstract

Abstract New rare earth iron-rich Er 1− x Nd x Fe 11.35Nb 0.65 (0≤ x≤0.5) intermetallic compounds which crystallize in a ThMn 12 structure with a I4/ m m m 3 space group have been synthesized. The substitution of Nd for Er leads to an increase of the Curie temperature and the unit-cell volume; the saturation magnetization values increase at 5 K from 73.5 emu·g −1 to 107.5 emu·g −1 when x increases from x=0 to 0.5.
