Abstract

Abstract Cr/Fe and Ag/Cr, Fe, Co superlattices (SLs) have been grown by molecular beam epitaxy on MgO (001) substrates. The results are compared with those previously obtained on GaAs (001), on the basis of reflection high-energy electron diffraction, sputter-depth Auger profile and X-ray diffraction experiments. It is shown that MgO substrates, which are easier to prepare than GaAs prior to epitaxial growth, allow the growth of high quality metallic SLs.
