Abstract

Abstract The polarized infrared ATR spectra and also the polarized Raman spectra have been measured for single crystals of chloranil, both for intramolecular vibrations and for lattice vibrations. The observed bands are classified into symmetry species and assigned to vibrational modes. The infrared ATR spectra of the pure powder and pure disks of chloranil have been also measured and compared with those of the single crystal.
