Determination of standard molar Gibbs' energy of formation of Sr3MoO6(s)

Abstract

Abstract Δ f G m o( Sr 3MoO 6, s, T) has been obtained by measuring equilibrium pressures of CO 2(g) over the ternary mixture SrMoO 4(s) + SrCO 3(s) + Sr 3MoO 6(s) in the temperature range 1040–1215 K, using a static manometric method. It is found to be given by the equation Δ f G m o( Sr 3MoO 6, s, T) (kJ mol −1) ± 0.6 = −2837.9 + 0.6036 T (K). Using the heat capacity values of Sr(s,1), Mo(s) and O 2(g) from the literature, Sr 3MoO 6(s) from the present work and the variation of Δ f G m o( T) with temperature, the values of Δ f H m o (at 298.15 K) is calculated as −(2821.2 ± 3.0) kJ mol −1.
