Abstract

Abstract An extended supergravity theory in ten dimensions is described in terms of an unconstrained scalar superfield in a lightcone formalism that maintains manifest symmetry among the eight transverse dimensions. The hamiltonian and other super-Poincaré generators are determined to first order in the gravitational coupling constant k. It is straightforward to truncate the theory to give N = 8 supergravity in four dimensions.
