Brief report) Effect of Different Treatments on Breaking Dormancy of Various Species of Barnyard Grass (Echinochloa crus galli and Echinochloa awal orizy cola)

In order to detect the dormancy mechanism of different species of Barnyard Grass, an experiment was conducted in the Seed Laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in 2009. treatments included: Gibberellic acid, sulfuric acid, scarification, stratification, preheating, removing seed covering structures of lema and palea and removing the seed coat. It seems fresh seeds of barnyard grass have physiological dormancy located in the seed coat, particularly in Crus gallispecies.
