Apparent chemical diffusivity in Y1Ba2Cu3Ox

Abstract

Abstract We found that, during oxygen-annealing, the superconductive orthorhombic phase grows from free surfaces into the tetragonal matrix of an as-sintered cuprate Y 1Ba 2Cu 3O x , following a parabolic rate law. Therefrom we determined the apparent chemical diffusion coefficient, D ̃ , in a normal annealing condition of 450°C and air atmosphere, as D ̃ = 1.1 × 10 −8 cm 2/s and 2.2 × 10 −7 cm 2/s for the cuprate of ca. 96% dense and ca. 90% dense, respectively.
