Abstract

Abstract The first completely resolved vibration-rotation spectrum of the ν 2 band of CH 3NC was observed and measured between 2100 and 2200 cm −1 with an interferometric spectrometer at a spectral resolution of 0.004 cm −1. Two hundred sixty-nine resolved transitions were assigned to the R( J, K) branches spanning J = 3-57 and K = 3-9. Spectroscopic constants for the ν 2 state of CH 3NC were obtained for the unperturbed portions of the band using a least-squares fit to 236 transitions.
