Abstract

Abstract An infrared technique for temperature measurement of rolling and sliding elastohydrodynamic lubrication contacts is presented. A new method of radiation analysis is described, whereby the emissivity of a steel ball is considered as a function of temperature. Results of measurement of the temperature of the ball in different rolling and sliding ratios under various loads are presented.
