Abstract

Abstract Metallic multilayers permit uniquely sensitive measurements of chemical interdiffusion. Recent measurements have characterized the accuracy of the technique and have demonstrated its extension to the measurement of the chemical adn self diffusivities of individual species. Applications to measurements at lower temperatures and in metastable materials promise advances in the study of structural changes about by diffusion.
