Abstract

Abstract The fatigue response of electrodeposited nanocrystalline pure Ni and a cryomilled ultra-fine-crystalline Al–Mg alloy was studied. It was found that grain refinement generally leads to an increase in resistance to failure under stress-controlled fatigue whereas a generally deleterious effect was seen on the resistance to fatigue crack growth.
