Abstract

Conein, Bernard - "What to do with ethnomethodology ? An answer to D. Flader and T. von Trotha". Critical statements on Ethnomethodology tended to present a return to a traditional mode of explanation of social behavior. The critical statements presented by Dieter Flader and Thilo von Trotha (Langage et société, n° 48) fall into this trap. The authors do not seem able to integrate the conceptual change brought about by Ethnomethodology in the social sciences. This change implies a modification in the mode of explaining social facts that has consequences for the relationships between Sociology, Linguistics, and Conversation Analysis.
